Th genre of Kid Cudi and the other music artists is rap/hip-hop. All of the artists I included in the similar genre collage all have a similar way of presenting themselves in their music videos as Kid Cudi. The artists in these videos also all dress in a similar sort of way, which is usually quite casual and is never usually dressed up a lot. I think they all have similar music videos, as they are usually quite simple and mainly with a lot of effects used. I don't think this genre of music really have a narrative to the video, even if the song has a narrative to it. In these videos, if there is ever a woman/women in it they are usually on a sexual display, this gets the video more attention.
The star construction of the artists in these screen shots, is to make sure they come across in their own way and show certain characteristics that help attract the audience to watch the video. For example, Kid Cudi always makes his videos unusual and different to other artists videos. Even if it is a simple idea, for example in Kid Cudi's music video to 'No-one Believes Me' it seems that all he is doing is walking around a street, but if you continue to watch the video you will notice that odd and scary things happen during it. This makes the lyrics match the visuals.
